Dan River Chapter

Virginia Master Naturalist certification requires 40 hours of volunteer service annually. These projects can be as diverse as the Master Naturalists themselves. All service projects must be approved by the chapter, meet the mission of the program, and be of public benefit rather than personal gain.

• Volunteer opportunities with State Agencies:  This document outlines some of the many possible projects available with the state agencies that are sponsoring this program.

• Volunteer opportunities with Local Agencies:          Danville Parks and Recreation             Danville Science Center

• Local Events:             BioBlitz                  Dan River Clean-up

1.       Projects where all of the work is done in NC – the hours do not count.

2.       A project that is regional in scope, VA and NC – the hours can count but limit the number of times we do this.

3.       No VMN volunteer should perform all of their required hours in NC.

Canada Geese Project:  create a proposal for population control of Canada Geese in area.
